Comfort-First Care

Sedation Dentistry in Hanover, ON

For many people, a trip to the dentist brings on real anxiety — and that worry can lead to years of postponed care. Hanover Dental Sedation was built around a simple idea: dental treatment should be something you can get through calmly, without dread. We use sedation dentistry to help anxious patients, people with sensitive gag reflexes, those with complex treatment needs, and patients who simply want to be more relaxed during their appointment.

Sedation dentistry uses medication to help you feel at ease during dental treatment. Depending on your needs and medical history, that can range from a light, relaxed state where you remain awake and responsive, to deeper sedation and general anesthesia for more involved procedures. Throughout your visit, our team monitors your comfort and your vital signs so your care stays measured and well-supervised.

Our practice serves families across Hanover and the wider Grey-Bruce region, and we welcome new patients for routine cleanings as well as sedation appointments. If your own dentist has referred you for sedation or anesthesia, we also work closely with referring offices to coordinate your care.

Why Patients Choose Sedation

How Sedation Can Help You

Sedation is not only for major surgery. Patients come to us for a wide range of reasons, and a calm, sedation-supported visit can make dental care feel manageable again.

  • Dental anxiety or a previous difficult experience that makes appointments stressful
  • A strong gag reflex that makes routine treatment uncomfortable
  • Difficulty getting numb, or sensitivity to dental work
  • Several procedures that can be completed together in fewer visits
  • Complex treatment such as oral surgery, wisdom-tooth removal, or extractions
  • Special health-care needs or difficulty sitting through longer appointments
Is sedation dentistry right for me?

Sedation may be a good fit if anxiety, a sensitive gag reflex, or a complex treatment plan makes dental care difficult for you. The surest way to find out is a consultation: your dentist reviews your medical history and current medications, talks through your concerns, and recommends the level of sedation suited to you. Some health conditions affect which options are appropriate, so this review is an important first step.

Will I be unconscious during treatment?

It depends on the type of sedation. With moderate IV sedation you stay conscious and able to respond, though you will feel deeply relaxed and may remember little afterward. Deeper sedation and general anesthesia reduce your awareness further. Your dentist will explain what to expect for the option you choose.

Do you accept new patients and referrals?

Yes. We welcome new patients for routine and general dentistry, and we accept referrals from other dental offices for sedation and anesthesia. You can reach us at (226) 257-8888 or use our online booking form to get started.

Getting Started

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first visit begins with a conversation, not a procedure. We want to understand what brings you in, what has made dental care difficult in the past, and what you hope to achieve. From there, your dentist reviews your medical history and walks you through the options that suit your situation, so you can make a decision you feel good about.

For a lot of people, making the appointment is the hardest part — especially after a long gap. You won't get a lecture about that here. We just want to help you move forward at a pace that feels okay to you.

  • A relaxed conversation about your concerns and goals
  • A review of your medical history and current medications
  • A clear explanation of your sedation and treatment options
  • Answers to your questions about safety, cost, and what to expect
  • A plan you understand and feel comfortable with before anything begins
What if it has been years since I saw a dentist?

You are far from alone, and you will not be lectured. Many of our patients come to us precisely because anxiety or a past experience kept them away for a long time. We start wherever you are, take things at a comfortable pace, and focus on getting you back to healthy, manageable dental care.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest ways to reach us are by phone at (226) 257-8888 or through the online booking form on this site. Let us know a little about what you need, and we will arrange a consultation that works for your schedule.
